Yo guys, this post is solely on food. HAHA, it's a long time since I posted any pictures on this blog so I shall kick it off with a bang today :D These photos are a collection of the food which I have ate in the past two months. Be prepared for a satisfying food journey with me today :D
1) PIZZAHUT Triple Supreme Cheese with Prawns (Large) for a price of RM31. [Hammered in Late Nov @ Bukit Indah]
This was a steal definitely, definitely for all cheese lovers out there like me. Whole pizza was cheesy and filling with generous amount of crabmeat, prawns and mushrooms. Too bad this is only available in Malaysia. Do check out Pizza Hut while you are in Malaysia as the price is relatively compared to Singapore's Pizzahut. And not to forget the cheese! :P Say Cheeze!
2) Reeds Cafe [Hot mocha latte - $4]
Being in the final semester in NUS, I knew I had to give this little cafe in Biz a try before graduation! And sure enough, this cup of hot mocha latte does not disappoint. The latte art done was seemingly beautiful, a perfect cup to perk up one's mood. My friend(HL) tried the scone($1.80) as well, it was a rather soft version but the portion was huge for the price and it goes rather well with the cup of hot mocha. So, for NUS people out there who have yet to explore Reeds cafe, do give it a try! No service charge/GST and there are a plenty of power sockets there for those who would wish to chill the afternoon away with their laptops :D Definitely a great hangout to go while waiting for the next lecture/tutorial class if you happens to be in the Business School.
3) Hifumi Japanese Restaurant [Free Flow appetizers! - total damage: $18 inclusive of GST & service]
 |
Pork Cutlet Omelette! |
While everybody is raving about the opening of the new wing in Plaza Singapura, yours truly decided to join in on this craze as suggested by my friends to try this newly open Hifumi with a free flow appetizers concept style. This idea was rather well received by the public judging by the long snake queues even way after 8pm. Order a main and get entitled to the free flow appetizers bar with more than 10 varieties and top up an additonal dollar to enjoy free flow drink!
 |
The APPETIZERS! |
However, everyone is only entitled to a plate(repeated usage of same plate to take the appetizers) for appetizers. Out of the wide varieties of appetizers, I would like to highlight the Chawanmushi which was rich in ingredients(mushroom, crabmeat, prawn), the potato salad which goes well with my pork cutlet, pumpkin salad which was rather suited to my liking but would have been better if the pumpkin were cut into dice sizes for easier chewing! Overall, the dining experience at hifumi was good and I would recommend this for all the Japanese food lovers especially those that enjoy Yayoiken out there to give it a try.
4) Eighteen Chefs @ Fushionopolis -[NUS student friendly cafe- ~$8]

Been wanting to try this cafe for along time and finally have the chance to visit it during Dec 2012 as it is nearby biopolis (my working location) during December. Me and friend wasnt too hungry and decided for the potato-green apple salad as an appetizer. When it was served, it took us by a wow. The portion was huge given the price of it and a generous amount of mayonnaise was added. However, as we further realized, there turns out to be more of green apples than potatos in somewhat like a 7:3 ratio. "( Being potato lovers, we had to satisfy more cravings of potato with fries. The sambal chilli cheese fries seems to hit all the weak spots of mine: Chilli, Cheese, potatoes and without hesitation we order it!
 |
Sambal Chilli Cheese Fries |
The perfect combination of the cheese and sambal and fries, definitel a must-hammer-item at Eighteen Chefs! According to my friend, the Eighteen Chefs at Tampines seem to serve a more cheesy version of this! Other than this, Eighteen Chefs sells western food like baked rice and pasta and has promotions like student set meals! In addition, NUS students do get 10% off ala carte items upon the presenting the matriculation card. Do drop by 18 Chefs if you are around the buona vista/biopolis/one north region and craving for some western delights!
5) Drips Bakery Cafe - $7.50
 |
Cinnamon Tart |
Drips Bakery cafe is located at Tiong Bahru which seems to be an estate of blooming cafes lately with the emergence of cafes like 'forty hands', 'closed door policy' and 'orange thimble' just around the streets. I happened to overhear at someother food blogs that drips is famous in its tarts! So being a tart-lover, me and my friend headed down to the cafe after our hearty dinner at Big MaMa[#6]. I ordered the cinnamon one while my friend got himself the dark chocalate banana tart. Both was just as awesome and definitely worth a second visit. Staff was friendly and service was good. They have an online website for ordering of customized tarts! Definitely a great way of surprising the birthday guy/girl if he/she is a TART lover! However do note that crowd tends to build up pretty fast near 915-10pm , so do come early for the seats and not to forget, the yummy tarts. :)
6) Big MAMA Korean Restaurant - $33 for 2 pax @ Kim Tian Place
 |
BANCHAN~ |
Booked this Korean Restaurant to celebrate a belated birthday for my JC CCA BFF! This was my third visit to this cosy korean family style restaurant located in the town of Tiong Bahru! Reservation would be a plus thing as the restaurant tends to be fully booked everyday so you may be disappointed if you do a walk-in! Me and friend went for the 6pm - 8pm time slot on a Friday evening. Like any usual korean restaurant, Banchan, otherwise known as side dishes are served when main orders are made. And, the side dishes are refillable, DAEBAK~
 |
Initial |
The Banchan served was more or less the same as what would be served in other restaurants. The items of highlight would be the mayonnaise lotus salad and the 'korean glass noodles' which tasted quite like the chinese tang hoon. These 2 side dishes wwas quite unique in its sense and definitely stands out from the other 4.
Friend was interested in the DAK GALBI otherwise translated as spicy panfried chicken. Since minimum portion was 2, we had the 2 portion servings.
 |
Adding in the Rice! |
 |
DAK GALBI Fried Rice! |
The DAK GALBI was spicy at the right quantity and me and friend simply devoured as if we had been starved as it was simply too good. When we were left with around 1/5 of the DAK GALBI, we requested for rice to be added in for the fried rice! At this stage, more kimchi, seaweed and sesame was thrown in and stir fry for a good three minutes. The end product was simply awesome with evidence of charred portions in the pan which simply add on the fragrance of the fried rice! Three visits so far and after each visit, I cant help but feel satisfied of demolishing a pan of DAK GALBI with my friends(be it 1,2,3 or 4) Definitely a great place to try out for all Korean BBQ lovers(albeit there isnt korean BBQ served here) and group hangouts but dont forget to make reservations! The boss Big MaMa is friendly and would stop to chit chat with any customers on any topics, be it the food or anything related to korea! There are other recommended dishes and I would definitely be back with my different group of friends to try them out!
7) Kitchenette ~ approximately $18 for breakfast and cup of flat white.
 |
Kitchenette @ Goldhill Plaza |
BBQ Came from Beijing and it was a reunion gathering after a span of 5 months! I was looking at some other food blog and came across Kitchenette and was tempted to try it out! So without hesitation, I made a reservation for table of 7 and the journey to brunch was embarked on 26 January! The interior of Kitchenette looks kind of posh with all the display of wine bottle in the glass cabinets, definitely a good place to laze around on a weekend afterrnoon and watch the world goes by. We were given the seats at the ground floor, would have been better had we been given seats at the upper floor. Maybe ambience would be a different story?
Nevertheless, it was not all an all day breakfast cafe and breakfast was served only till 230pm. I ordered the Norwegian Salmon benedict and cup of flat white to go along with the main as I am craving for some salmon and caffeine for the day while the
majority of my friends went for the simpler option of waffles set! The Flat white which was rather mediocre in my opinion. |
Flat White - $5 |
 |
Norwegian Salmon Benedict - $12 |
My main! Tasted superb with the toppings of hollandaise sauce. However, portions was rather small in my friend's opinion but at the price of $12, I felt it was reasonable!
 |
Waffles Set with scrambled eggs - $11 |
BBQ's waffle set! According to them, the portions of the waffle set is generous but the main issue here seems to be the waffle. The waffle was no where near crunchy hot so their ratings for the meal overall wasnt that good. Perhaps we had gone abit too late at 2pm but the scrambled eggs, mushrooms, bacon and ham pretty much sums up a hearty meal for them too!
Prices for breakfast tends to be more on the wallet friendly side. I saw a refrigerator with all sorts of cute looking tarts inside. Perhaps I might make another visit to try them out! But given that it is located at Novena, chances are it will be some time before I would drop by there again! For Brunch lovers. this might be a new place to consider for if you are in the Thomson/Novena region during a weekend morning!
